HYDERABAD: Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) corporator Amjedullah Khan has alleged that he was getting calls on his mobile phone threatening him of dire consequences for working against the party's rival MIM.Amjedullah Khan, in a complaint to Dabeerpura police on Sunday, said that he has been receiving threat calls on his mobile phone from unidentified persons ever since the attack on MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi on April 30 at Barkas.The MBT corporator had lodged similar complaints earlier also and took up the matter with senior police officials and the State Human R i g h t s Commission (SHRC).When contacted, Amjedullah Khan said he was getting calls from various numbers and some of them were tracked and the accused nabbed.“After the police started acting against my complaints, I am now getting calls from internet phones.I am getting calls from numbers such as 000000 or 111111,'' he said.The MBT leader alleged that the callers were also tracking down his movements and claimed that he received calls even when he was on his Haj pilgrimage.“The caller threatened me of dire consequences if I work against the MIM party,'' he said adding that the police were not taking stern action against the accused following pressure from MIM leaders and some senior police officers.He demanded police to provide security to him.The corporator's weapon licence renewal was also kept on hold.When contacted Dabeerpura police inspector D Prasanna Kumar said they would look into the complaint.“We have arrested some of them following complaints by the corporator earlier,'' the officer said.
