PHULBANI: The bodies of a Panchayat Samiti member and an employee of an NGO were found near Jubaguda square under Kotagarh police limits on Friday afternoon. They were reportedly awarded capital punishment in a kangaroo court by the Maoists. The bulletriddled bodies with throats slit were recovered by Kandhamal SP JN Pankaj who rushed to the spot.
The victims have been identified as Sitaram Uthansing (40), a member of Srirampur panchayat and Pitara Mallick (30), an employee of a NGO. Sources said Uthansing was accused of collecting `5,000 each from about 40 persons for construction of houses under 'Mo Kudia' and 'Indira Awas Yojana' schemes, while Mallick allegedly misappropriated the NGO funds and was also involved in some land dispute.
