BANGALORE: A man allegedly stamped his 29-year-old wife to death at Vidhana Soudha Layout in Rajagopala Nagar police limits on Thursday night. The police have detained her husband in connection with the incident.The deceased Rukmini, a native of Shimoga, was married to Nagaraj, a few years ago, after being in a courtship. Nagaraj, a businessman deals with transportation business. Presently, he is an agent at a transportation office. The couple has a one-and-half year old daughter.According to the police, the couple had frequent fights over financial matters from the past few months. Nagaraj reportedly harassed his wife to bring money from her house as he sustained loss in his business. On Thursday night too, they had a quarrel regarding financial issues.In a fit of rage, Nagaraj allegedly abused and assaulted his wife and as she fell on the ground he allegedly stamped her to death."Hearing the couple screaming at each other, some of their neighbours came to their residence to pacify them. But by the time the neighbours had reached, Rukmini was dead. Later, it was these people who informed the police about the incident," the police added.A postmortem was conducted on the victim's body at Victoria Hospital mortuary. Rajagopala Nagar police have registered a murder case and are further investigating.
