THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Krishipadam agricultural programme, conducted in 100 schools last year, will be conducted in another 100 schools this year also. The programme, aimed at popularising farming among children, is being organised by Agrifriends cultural organisation. The programme has three separate wings - cultivation, research and campaigns. “The first directly involves the students in farming activities, the second gets the students involved in agriculture-based small research projects and studies and the third involves the students in campaigns urging them to return back to agriculture,” said agricultural assistant Jayakumar, who is also one of the founder members of Agrifriends. The programme would be technically supported by the extension department of the Agriculture College at Mannuthy in Thrissur as well as various science and technology institutions. Students taking part in agriculture-based research projects will get a chance to present their findings at the Children’s Agricultural Science Congress. Students and schools interested in participating in the programme can contact Agrifriends over telephone number : 9495200255.
