KOCHI: The Mulanthuruthy police on Friday registered an FIR on the basis of a complaint from the parents of Geevarghese John, who was brutally attacked by a group of students on a train in Erode. But police officials doubt whether the case will be of any help as another case has already been registered with the Erode Railway Police on January 14.According to police, the FIR has been registered against Akhil Babu of Ochira, Kiran Nair of Parasala, Ebin Babu of Malappuram, Tintu Ebraham of Uzhavoor and four other unidentified persons. A special team will be constituted to investigate the case. The FIR was registered after Chief Minister Oommen Chandy recommended to take action on Thursday.Meanwhile, the police officials doubt the whether case would withstand here as another case has been registered in Erode. Since Erode police has not taken any action and all the accused are from Kerala, the police decided to register the case here also.“The Erode Railway police have not had any communication with the police here until now. The delay in investigation will help the accused escape. We will assist Erode police if they request it,” a police officer said.
