Sri Gol Hanuman Mandir stands as a prominent Hanuman temple in Nizamabad, Telangana, renowned for its reputation as the ‘powerful temple of Lord Hanuman’, where devotees often find their wishes fulfilled. Situated at the intersection of five roads in Shivaji Nagar Nizamabad, this temple has been a beacon of faith for approximately a century. Adorning the top of the temple are statues depicting the epic tale of Ramayana through intricate artwork. Within its sacred walls, Dashavatars find their place, enriching the spiritual ambience.
One remarkable aspect of this ancient temple is its unique orientation during darshan. Although the devotees face south while seeking blessings, the idol of Hanuman faces east, symbolizing a profound spiritual alignment. According to the temple’s priest, Jairam Joshi, the temple’s genesis lies in the reverence towards Anjana, the mother of Hanuman. Legend has it that Anjana Swami appeared beneath a majestic Ravi tree, prompting her devotees to construct a circular temple in her honour. This circular shape earns the temple its moniker, ‘Gol Hanuman’.
The temple walls narrate the divine saga of Hanuman’s devotion, including his embrace of Lord Ram and his encounter with the revered Sita. Special pujas mark significant occasions like Hanuman Jayanti and Kartika Purnima, along with regular observances on Saturday Trayodashi, Saturday Ashtami, and Saturday Amavasya. Devotees fervently believe that performing 11, 21, 41, or 108 revolutions around Lord Hanuman Swami will lead to the fulfilment of their wishes.
Nilgiri Raju, the temple chairman, talks about the temple’s antiquity and the devout worship conducted by devotees every Saturday and Tuesday. Furthermore, the temple extends its hospitality by organizing a special meal on every full moon day, catering to the needs of devotees with unwavering dedication.
Sri Gol Hanuman Mandir stands not only as a physical structure but as a bastion of faith and devotion, where believers find solace and spiritual fulfilment. Its rich history, coupled with the enduring devotion of its worshippers, cements its status as a revered landmark in the heart of Nizamabad.
