The Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation (IIAM) is establishing Community Mediation Clinics in the state, with a view to providing a safe environment for people to voice their grievances.
The clinics provide trained mediators to facilitate conflict resolution. The system was launched for the first time by the Chief Justice of India in New Delhi in 2009.
The IIAM community mediation service is guided by an advisory board of IIAM headed by Justice M N Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice of India.
The mediation service is guided and administered by the CMS committee chaired by Justice K T Thomas.
The committee members include Justice T V Ramakrishnan, former Judge, High Court of Kerala, Hormis Tharakan, former DGP and institutional members from IIAM, National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, India International Alternative Dispute Resolution Association and Human Rights Law Network.
