BANGALORE: Questions were hurled at Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde by curious students seeking more inputs from him about corruption, Lokpal Bill, the judiciary system and the government. Hegde addressed over 500 students of NMKRV College at the RV dental College on Tuesday.
Hegde told the students that corruption is a growing greed and ambition is a characteristic feature of human beings, but ambition should not turn into obsession.Students asked if they could be trained to fight against corruption. Hegde said that in the past two years Lokayukta has taken in ten students to train them to work in different departments of the Lokayukta. If the next Lokayukta opens similar opportunity, then the students should take advantage of the same and become an important part , he noted.

Another student laid a proposal to the Lokayukta to consider becoming a chief minister of Karnataka, to which he replied, "I don't think I can handle the system. I have lost all hopes."

Speaking to reporters, Hegde explained why he is submitting the mining report at the fag end of his career, "I waited for the government's nod. I had already submitted a report in December 2008, three other agencies IP, IT, CBI and CEC were investigating and reports were being compiled and account entries were being done. We have been working day and night, please do not jump to the conclusion that we are corrupt."

What's your reaction?
