Exhibition Grounds, Nampally will be hosting to a ten-day exhibition, Gandhi Shilp Bazaar from August 19 The expo features exclusive products ranging from terracota, artifacts and home furnitures to enhance the ambience of homes and offices. They also include dazzling and colourful varieties of Dhokra castings, stone carvings, palm leaf engraving and applique works of Orissa, Maithili d Madubani paintings. Tribal jewels, lace crafts of Bihar, woolen carpets, conch shells, Kantha stitches, jute crafts of West Bengal, cane and Bamboo, Sitlapatti and Terracota crafts of North eastern States, Glass toys, miniature paintings and many more. The special inclusion for this Bazaar is papier mache from Rajasthan, colourful embroidery shawls of Jammu and Kashmir, Kalamkari painting and crochet lace of Andhra Pradesh, sandal wood carvings, wood inlay Bidriware and Channapatna toys. About 150 crafts persons are participating in this event from all over the country. The exhibition will be organized by AP Handicrafts Development Corporation with 100 per cent grant-in-aid sanctioned by the Development Commissioner for Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India, New Delhi. “Free stalls will be allotted to the artisans and TA&DA will also be provided to all the artisans participating in this Gandhi Shilp Bazaar,” says Y.Madhusudhana Reddy, managing director, AP Handicrafts Development Corporation adding, “The Main purpose of this Gandhi Shilp Bazaar is to create marketing facility during day and night time in view of Ramazan and Vinayaka Chavithi.”Live demonstration of prominent crafts will also be organized at the Gandhi Shilp Bazaar. It will open to public from 11 am to 9 pm.
