New Delhi: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is the third and ultimate film in the ‘Batman’ franchise. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the film starts after eight years of the era shown in ‘The Dark Knight’.
This time the story is expected to begin with Commissioner James Gordon’s (Gary Oldman) account who still feel guilty about the planned cover up of Harvey Dent’s (Aaron Eckhart) crimes. However, he decides to not reveal the actual facts because in his opinion the people of Gotham are still not ready to hear the truth. A terrorist leader Bane (Tom Hardy) somehow gets his hands on Gordon’s speech and plans to use it against the local administration.
Batman is not visible in Gotham city anymore as he doesn’t need to do anything to curb the crime. His other avatar Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) is spending his days inside his huge mansion. However, he returns to the city as Batman when he comes to know that Bane stages a raid on city’s stock exchange.
Apart from the usual faces of the ‘Batman’ franchise, Anne Hathaway will be seen as 'Catwoman' alias Selina Kyle. Her character is recognised as an associate of Bane and as per her interviews, she establishes a relationship with Batman to make his character a bit less serious. The role demanded her to train extensively in martial arts.
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox will keep serving Bruce Wayne with his latest high tech equipments.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be featured in an important role of police officer Robin John Blake. His character is complicated and will require him to show swift emotional transitions.
The audiences have been waiting for this film since the release of ‘The Dark Knight’ in 2008. Almost all the list of most memorable films considered ‘The Dark Knight’ as one of the strong contenders of the top spot and thus it’s very natural on part of the viewers to expect Nolan to come up with another great film.
If advance booking is eligibility criteria then the film might end up among the highest grosser of all times.
Christopher Nolan doesn’t need to prove anything as a storyteller; he has given films such as ‘Memento’, ‘The Prestige’, and ‘The Dark Knight’ in the past, but ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is a test for him also simply because of the hype surrounding the film.
It’s termed as the epic conclusion, so the fans would be hoping for a grand finish to a story well told so far.
