DMK functionary held in land case

MADURAI: The Madurai Anti Land grabbing cell police has arrested an area secretary of DMK in Madurai. Dwarakadass (68), a retired railway employee, residing at Vivekanandar road in Karimedu area of Madurai has preferred a complaint with the anti land grabbing cell of Madurai Police.In his complaint, he said ‘Ochu’ Balu was living near his house. On the pretext of repairing his house, Ochu Balu took a portion of Dwarakadass’ house during 2010 on r ent.Subsequently Ochu Balu started pressurising Dwarakadass and his wife to sell the property to him against their wishes. The Land Grabbing cell police has registered a case and arrested ‘Ochu’ Balu, who is the area secretary of DMK. He was earlier detained under Goondas act and later released after the order of detaining him under Goondas act was set aside by the Madurai Bench of Madras High court.
