THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Banks in the district disbursed Rs 6,243 crore during the 2010-11 annual loan scheme. Of this, Rs 3,306 crore was disbursed in the agriculture sector, Rs 265 crore in the small-scale industry sector and Rs 2,671 crore in other priority sectors.   The banks in the district have achieved all targets in the State and Central loan schemes for the fiscal, a meeting of the Thiruvananthapuram District Consultative Committee for Banking Development was told on Friday.  The loans sanctioned by banks should be more development-oriented, District Collector P M Francis, who presided over the meeting, said. Addressing the meeting led by the Lead Bank Indian Overseas Bank, the Collector lauded the banks for achieving 132 percent success in the disbursement of loans. IOB chief regional manager and consultative committee convener Indira Padmini delivered the introductory address. Reserve Bank of India assistant general manager P Thomas, NABARD district development officer K T Thrivikraman, Lead District Manager V R Muraleedhar and Lead Bank manager R Gireesh Kumar also spoke. The meeting also discussed the loan schemes for the 2012-13 financial year.
