New Delhi: The CBI on Thursday arrested a Delhi Police sub-inspector for allegedly taking a bribe from a man to settle a dowry case registered against him.
Sub-Inspector Ramesh Chand, posted at Police Station Narela in New Delhi, was caught while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for settling a dowry case.
"A case was registered under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations that the Sub-Inspector was demanding a bribe from the complainant for not implicating him in a case being investigated against him," CBI spokesperson said in New Delhi.
"CBI laid a trap and caught the Sub-Inspector while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant," the official said.
Searches are being conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused.
