The incident took place near Dwarka station during the afternoon.

New Delhi: A coach of a Delhi Metro train derailed near Dwarka station on the Yamuna Bank-Dwarka line on Wednesday, metro officials said.

All the 39 passengers in the coach escaped unhurt.

The accident took place at around 1520 hrs IST "when four wheels of the front bogey went off the track near the Dwarka metro station. All the 39 passengers are safe," Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.

Dayal said the accidents may have caused by a "human error" as the driver of the metro rail jumped a signal when he should have stopped.

"It is a human error on part of the train driver who jumped a signal," he said.

The DMRC has ordered an enquiry in the matter.

The Yamuna Bank-Dwarka line is one of the busiest metro routes in the capital. Everyday more than 825,000 people commute on Delhi Metro.
