Watch: Shahbaz Ahmed Gets Angry at SRH Teammate After Having His Face Smashed With Cake

Sunrisers Hyderabad allrounder Shahbaz Ahmed had his face smashed with cake after a match-winning performance in the second qualifier of the IPL 2024 on Friday night.

SRH beat Rajasthan Royals in Chepauk by 36 runs to advance to the title clash.

Following the victory, SRH shared a clip of the team’s celebrations on Instagram.

In the clip, Shahbaz and Abhishek Sharma can be seen cutting a cake together after the duo combined to take five wickets.

Next, Shahbaz’s teammate Umran Malik approached him before smashing a huge chunk of the cake on the allrounder’s face.

Shahbaz seemed to be a little annoyed at first but then the duo hugged it out.

Fans reacted to the hilarious team celebrations after the victory.

One of them wrote that SRH’s team bonding was something they like. “This is what we want”, he wrote.

Another pointed out how Shahbaz made a lasting impression after being included as Impact Sub for the second qualifier.

“Best impact player of the season,”  the fan wrote.

One joked about how Shahbaz got angry after getting his face smashed with the cake. “The way he got angry after putting the cake on his face was amazing,” read the comment.

A fan highlighted the contributions from Shahbaz’s teammates Heinrich Klaasen and Rahul Tripathi too.

“Give half credit to Klaasen and Tripathi, they played very well in the crucial situation”, the user wrote.

Another joked that the SRH skipper Pat Cummins should get a second cake. “Please make sure there’s another cake for Patty to eat. Anyways you guys were magical with the ball,” read the comment.

“What can I tell you? Feels so good to reach the final. Just want to win the final now,” Shahbaz responded to a query.

The left-arm spinner first added 18 crucial runs to help the 2016 winners reach 175 runs. And then scalped three wickets in his four-over spell.

He only gave away 23 runs, at an economy of 5.75.

Shahbaz’s dismissals include the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag and Ravichandran Ashwin. The heroics were enough to seal a 36-run victory for his side.

SRH will now once again face the Kolkata Knight Riders, this time in the final of IPL 2024. Shahbaz will be looking to bring his A-game into the fixture as the Orange Army eyes a second IPL crown.
