Sobhita Dhulipala Recalls First Cannes Visit: 'We Were Cooking Eggs, Buying Onions'
Sobhita Dhulipa revealed that upon learning from Raman Raghav 2.0’s director Anurag Kashyap that she would attend Cannes back in 2016, she did some “basic things” as a part of her research.

Sobhita Dhulipala marked her official entry at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The actress looked ethereal in a deep purple jumpsuit, turning heads on the red carpet. On the sidelines of the gala Festival, she also attended a Magnum event in the French Riviera, representing the brand. Although her walk of grace has been making headlines now, Sobhita Dhulipala in an interview recently revealed how her first Cannes visit in 2016 for the premiere of Raman Raghav 2.0 was completely different. From prepping up for the “most basic things” to forgetting about the premiere, the Made In Heaven star poured it all.

Sobhita Dhulipa engaged in a heart-to-heart conversation with Anupama Chopra for Film Companion. During the interview, the actress revealed that upon learning from Raman Raghav 2.0’s director Anurag Kashyap that she would attend Cannes back in 2016, she did some “basic things” as a part of her research. “I had to start reading the most basic things because I had only known the red carpet pictures. But I had actually no insight into the world of cinema. I didn’t have access to it,” she said.

In the same interaction, Sobhita Dhulipala continued that she was staying at an Airbnb with the other cast and crew members. The place was far away from the main event, she disclosed. Calling it a “grounding experience”, the actress added, “Like it was bringing eggs and onions from the local (shop), we are cooking in the house and it was very cute. When I look back it was not flamboyant in any way. We were just doing very desi things.”

Speaking about Raman Raghav 2.0’s premiere, Sobhita Dhulipala admitted that she was unaware of the screening. Recalling the memory, the actress said, “So we just sauntered into the theatre and the director was just screaming and was like ‘Why the hell haven’t you come for the premiere? The press has left.’ And we were like, ‘There was a premiere?’ We didn’t know.” But when the cast was called onto stage and the film was screened, Sobhita found the moment “surreal”.
