Leopard Causes Terror In UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri, Locals Complain Of Inaction By Forest Dept
When the labourers working in the fields saw the leopard, they started making noise and escaped from there.

A leopard has been spotted walking in the Lakhimpur Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh. According to the Local 18 Uttar Pradesh, the leopard has now been recorded sitting in a banana field. This field belongs to Ankit Mishra, a native of Semri village of Dhaurahara town. When the labourers working in the fields saw the leopard, they started making noise and escaped from there. The natives present in the field shot a video of the leopard and uploaded it on social media, which went viral. The locals have informed the forest department about this incident.

Not only the Semri village, a leopard was also spotted drinking water in the pond near Jangpur, a small village in Uttar Pradesh. The villagers immediately informed the forest department about this. Forest Inspector Anil Kumar reached the spot and after examining the pugmark, confirmed the leopard’s presence. The pugmark is the footprint of a wild mammal-like tiger and leopard. The forest inspector burst firecrackers in the surrounding fields probably to scare the leopard and appealed to the people to remain alert.

The Jangpur village natives say that the leopard has been spotted many times before in their region as well. According to them, the Forest Department has not taken any concrete steps to catch the animal. They only ask the natives to be cautious. The natives are not able to go and work in the fields due to fear of leopards. The wild animal is changing its location every day and is found in the sugarcane fields and the banana fields.

The natives are very scared due to the trouble caused by the terror of tigers, leopards and wolves. A new animal is constantly spotted in the fields and on the village roads. The situation is so deplorable that it has become difficult for people to even leave their homes. In Lakhimpur Kheri district, a stray tiger has attacked and killed four people in 50 days. “Our life has become miserable as we are forced to stay indoors. With no money, no work, and no wood, our life is no less than hell,” Mohammed Murad, a local farmer told News 18.
