HYDERABAD: City police commissioner AK Khan said out of 14 establishments which were served notices for not taking up security arrangements, eight have not responded so far. While participating in a security sensitisation programme for managements of malls and theatres, he said the establishments will be served notices again and action initiated against them, if they still do not respond. In the backdrop of the serial blasts which took place in Mumbai, AK Khan said Hyderabad is no less or no more a target for terrorists and blamed the media for projecting it as a terror hub. “It is true that few from Hyderabad went to other places and committed untoward incidents. But branding the city by drawing links to all terrorist attacks,” Khan said. He added that all security agencies should make sure managements of establishments guarded by them, provide all the needed equipment. From our side, we will write letters to facilitate in providing the required equipment, the commissioner said. Police said decoy operations will be conduced on all malls and hotels to check the alertness and preparedness of securitymen. Khan felt there is a need to screen the short film Meri Jaan Hyderabad in all theatres for sensitising people. Police said CCTV cameras should be arranged within premises of all establishments. However, the irony is that nearly 40 per cent of CCTV cameras in various parts of the city are either non-functional or dysfunctional.
