HYDERABAD: The Nampally 17th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Thursday summoned actor Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha Rajasekhar to appear before it on February 9, next year, in connection with their alleged remarks against Chiranjeevi Blood Bank and Chiranjeevi Trust’s executive member, Allu Aravind, who also happens to be Chiranjeevi’s brother-in-law.S Malla Rao, counsel for Allu Aravind, told Express that the court admitted their defamation petition which was filed on December 12 seeking Rs 10 crore as damages from the couple and one of their followers, Harikrishna Goud.They had alleged irregularities in Chiranjeevi’s blood bank and his charitable trust. Malla Rao said Rajasekhar was named as Accused No. 1 and his wife Jeevitha as Accused No. 2 in the case.The court had recorded Aravind’s statement earlier. He said that the couple and Goud had, on August 9 and 14 last year, in an interview to the media accused the Chiranjeevi Blood Bank and Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust of selling blood for profit. They also alleged that the trust was selling a bottle of blood at Rs 850 though received Rs 14.5 lakh from the state government for the blood bank’s maintenance, Aravind’s counsel said.Jeevitha told Express that they would appear in the court and submit evidence of irregularities committed by the blood bank and trust. “We have sufficient evidence. Some victims came out alleging that the blood bank was involved in selling blood to common man. Several newspapers published and TV channels beamed the news. Why he is targeting me and my husband seeking Rs 10 crore as damages? We will take the help of legal experts,” she said.
