They accused are identified as Varun Kumar alias Varuna alias Vasu, 21, from Mathikere and Shivaraj alias Nagaraj, 24, a native of Sharavathinagar in Shimoga.  With their arrest, the police have cracked 22 cases and recovered gold ornaments and laptop worth Rs 17 lakh.According to the police, the accused had committed thefts at Yeswantpur, Peenya, Vidyaranyapura and other surrounding areas.They used to go to houses in the guise of newspaper hawkers, milk vendors, and cable TV operators and identified their target houses. When there was no one at home, they broke into the houses and committed thefts.Also, they used to insert sticks through windows and steal shirts and trousers. They used to take away valuables and cash kept in the pockets of the shirts.“They disposed of the stolen goods through their friends in Yeswantpur, Davanagere and Hassan. With the stolen money, they purchased expensive clothes and video games from malls. According to the police, Ratan’s body was found near a railway track near HMT High School on July 2. His brother Sujith Bagchi had identified the body and the post mortem report suggested that Ratan was murdered. Meanwhile, Sujith informed the police that the deceased was working for CCL Apartment in Hennur and had gone missing on June 26. Sujith suspected that Bijay killed Ratan, as Ratan was last seen going in Bijay’s car a day before he went missing. Bijay was also missing since then, the police said.Based on this information, the police arrested Bijay, who confessed of the murder. “Bijay said whenever Ratan visited his house, he used to misbehave with Bijay’s wife. Recently, Bijay asked for money from Ratan, for which the latter allegedly asked Bijay to send his wife along with him. Hence, Bijay hatched a plot to eliminate Ratan and on June 26, he took Ratan in his car and made him drink. The Jalahalli police arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly murdering his friend.

The accused, Bijay Dolly, a resident of Whitefield, allegedly killed Ratan Bagchi,  a native of West Bengal. According to the police, Ratan’s body was found near a railway track near HMT High School on July 2.
