CCET for medical and engineering colleges

MANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda emphasising on quality of education said within two years the state will also adopt the Central Common Entrance Test (CCET) for medical and engineering colleges.At the inaugural programme of Srinivas Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre and Srinivas Hospital in Mukka, he said the Centre had long ago favoured a national-level CET for medical and engineering seats by conducting Central CET. Though it is a big leap towards quality education, he said the students in Karnataka will be at the receiving end as the present PUC syllabus will not help them compete in national-level examinations. The state government is committed to introduce CCET and will be initiating the revision of PUC syllabus this year, he said. He hoped that PUC students would live up to the expectations.Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya said the government has been supporting private institutions to promote good education.Senior pontiff of Pejawar Mutt Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji urged medical professionals to be sympathetic first. People in trouble should not be deprived of medical service, he stressed.Minister Krishna J Palemar, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor Prof Sriprakash K S and A Shama Rao foundation president A Raghavendra Rao, were present.
