Bank agent held for chain snatching

PUDUCHERRY: A bank collection agent was arrested on Friday in connection with chain snatching incidents at seven places in the Mudaliarpet police station limits. Kandeepan (34) was arrested for the theft of gold chains weighing 20 sovereigns worth Rs 4 lakh.   Three persons, Nagaraj, Velmurugan and Srinivasan, who bought the stolen chains from Kandeepan, were also arrested. Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) said that following several reports of chain snatching since August last year, a team was formed to nab those responsible. The team then zeroed in on Kandeepan, who during interrogation, named the three persons who bought the stolen chains from him.Proming that the police were closely following complaints from other areas in the region, the SSP said the culprits would soon be nabbed.
