HYDERABAD: The AP State Road Transport Corporation has submitted proposals for modernisation of eight workshops and providing power tools to 210 depots to the Union ministry of surface transport.The proposals, entailing an expenditure of Rs 240 crore, were submitted at a meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday by the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings to discuss modernisation of workshops across the country.RTC executive director G Jaya Rao, who attended the meeting and submitted the proposals, said preliminary discussions were held on the proposals and states which did not submit their proposals were asked to submit in one month. He said a technical committee of six officers was constituted to examine the proposals and he was one of them. The meeting discussed use of modern machinery at workshops and power tools at depots. The Union ministry has come forward to fund modernisation of workshops and sought proposals from all state road transport corporations in the country.
