KORAPUT: One more tribal was killed by Maoists in Koraput district suspecting him to be a police informer, a day after they committed a similar murder.The victim, identified as Nachika Suka (40) of Upara Renga village in Maoist-infested Narayanpatna area, about 100 km from here, was abducted by a group of armed Maoists late on Saturday. Nachika’s body was found near the village early on Sunday in a pool of blood with his throat slit. Locals said his hands were tied up and he was shot from close range.In a letter left near the body, the Maoists claimed that Nachika had helped police carry out a raid in the village recently following which, huge quantity of arms and ammunition was seized.The killing took place a day after the Maoists abducted a tribal, Dilu Habika, and threw his body after slitting his throat at Pilibadi village in Narayanpatna area.Around 100 tribals have been killed by Maoists in Koraput in the last three years.In the wake of the two killings, security has been tightened in the area and a massive combing operation launched to trace the Maoists, police said.Locals said that despite their claim that they are fighting for the cause of tribals, the Maoists now appear to be targeting the hapless tribals.
