New Delhi: After launching attacks on a number of websites in protest against Internet censorship, hacker group Anonymous Operation India is planning a more traditional way of protest.
Anonymous India announced its plans in an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) press conference and also posted a YouTube video to promote the protest. In the press conference, Anonymous India claimed hacking into Reliance Communication's servers and accessed a list of URLs blocked by the ISP that also allegedly includes Facebook profiles of protesting Air India pilots.
Anonymous India also accused the Indian media of deliberately ignoring its operations. The hackers also released details of other hacking attacks (Read the transcript here).
"We are starting our nation wide active protest this coming June 9th. Get a mask. Join the protest," an Anonymous India member chatting under the handle BitMentor, posted in the IRC.
"The constitution gives us the right to peaceful protest and so we shall. There is nothing to fear, this protest will be peaceful," the YouTube video's description says and urges Indian Internet users to change your display pictures on Facebook and Twitter to the Anonymous image.
