Chennai: Supporting Anna Hazare in his campaign for a strong Lokpal bill, more than 1,000 people held a candle light vigil for the second day on the Marina beach on Sunday.
Slogans like 'Anna Anna' and 'Stop corruption, Save India' were raised by the participants, including women and children, during the demonstration led by Chennai chapter of the India-Against Corruption.
Some were seen holding the national flag while some carried placards that read - 'Are you Going to Give a Corrupt Society to your children' and 'Stop Corruption, Save India'.
"We want our right.. We are here to support Anna..", a participant wearing a Gandhi cap with Indian flag painted on her face, said.
Since it was a Sunday evening, many people who came with their family to the Marina also joined demonstration in support of the cause espoused by Anna, whose fast entered the sixth day on Sunday.
An IAC volunteer said 36 people from various walks of life were taking part in the indefinite fast being held on the LB Road in Thiruvanmiyur area on its sixth day.
Similar events in support of Anna were also held across city. While several residents of Purasaiwalkam took out a rally raising slogans, over 200 people took out a candle light procession in Teynampet area, under the aegis of city-based NGO Exnora International, a release said.
