HYDERABAD: Justice B Chandra Kumar of AP High Court Wednesday adjourned hearing on the petitions filed by the CBI and Jagan Mohan Reddy, who was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days in the alleged illegal assets case, to Thursday (May 31). The court permitted the CBI to serve personal notices to Jagan and other accused. The CBI filed two petitions, one challenging the lower court’s order of remanding Jagan into judicial custody and another to seek police custody of him. Jagan also filed two petitions, one challenging the legality of his arrest and another on his remand. Another petition was filed by Jagan’s wife YS Bharati Reddy seeking adequate security to her husband in the jail. All these petitions will be heared on Thursday. Meanwhile, a habeas corpus petition was filed in the High Court with a request to declare as illegal further investigation by the CBI without explicit permission from the magistrate, consequent upon the arrest and subsequent detention (Jagan). The petitioners, hailing from Krishna district, also wanted the court to set aside the remand order and set the detainee free from jail.
