CHENNAI: He is a singer, actor, dancer and a magician. But nothing stops seven-year-old Shrikanth and his quest for achievement. L Shrikanth, who shot to fame with Star Vijay’s Airtel Super Singer and was voted as the ‘Most Popular Performer’ in 2010, is all set to break two Guinness World records this July.Shrikanth will sing, dance, perform magic, anchor, drum and play keyboard non-stop for seven hours with 110 songs at HVF Playground, Avadi on July 14 to enter into Guinness book of records by breaking a former record of a girl who performed continuously for five hours. He will also paint, perform magic, drum and play keyboard even as he sings in five minutes to create another Guinness record. Shrikanth, a Class 3 student of Velammal Schools, said he is excited about breaking the Guinness record and added that he is never tired of juggling academics, music, dance, acting and magic. Interestingly what drives the child prodigy to create a world record is his father’s promise to let him have a pet puppy at home. “We generally call him Sagalakalavallavan because of his curiosity. He shows keen interest in playing different types of music instruments and he is learning to play guitar now,” said his mother, Vanishree. Shrikanth, the endorser of Medimix soaps, Mercantile Bank, Navshakthi developers and several others, has also set foot into acting. The Girl, a short film in which Shrikanth made a 20-minute appearance, was screened at the Canadian Film Festival and his next movie, Chutti Paiyan, is slated for December release. With his intelligence and never-say-die attitude, the lad has 97 per cent in academics, making him the brand ambassador of Velammal Schools. “We are proud that our son is the brand ambassador of Velammal Schools and constant encouragement from different quarters keeps up his spirit for achievement. He has already performed for over three hours non-stop and he sure will break the record by performing seven hours too,” said his father, Lakshmanan.Along with Shrikanth, four youth will also create a world record by displaying the demographics, culture, language and several other aspects of India, in a flux board of one lakh square feet. N Rajakulasekaran, B Babu, S Varadharajan and N Chandramohan, taking cue from Abdul Kalam’s advice to dream big, are ready to transform their dreams into achievement by making the educational banner. The banner titled, Rediscover India, will be exhibited at HVF Playground for 10 days starting from July 14. “We want the banner to benefit not only the students but everyone in the country”, said B Babu , a professional at designing and printing flux boards. The banner will be made at a cost of `1 crore and will also depict details on topics ranging from health awareness and pollution control to energy conservation. A miniature of the banner at 65 square feet is taken across the city to educate people on India.
