CHENNAI: With every passing day that Alex Paul Menon remains in captivity, the call for his release, especially in the virtual world, has been growing stronger.On Wednesday, netizens expressed solidarity with the abducted Collector via 2,446 likes and over 1,856 posts on Facebook.The picture of a smiling Alex, looking right into the camera, has now become the most prominent profile picture of his and his wife, Asha’s Facebook friends. Others have also changed their profile picture to that of various stills of the Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer.Many of these pictures have “Free Alex” or “Save Alex Paul”on the bottom.Meanwhile, some friends have been actively posting photos and sharing news on their profiles. Posts expressing sympathy and offering prayers are also a common sight.As one of Alex’s close friends, Mohammed Hussain, told Express, “People are changing the pictures of their own accord. They want to spread the word about Alex’s kidnapping. If more people know, they will put more pressure on the Government to work for his release.”
