After Getting Bail Dr Kafeel Khan Writes to Authorities to Reinstate him
Dr Kafeel Khan was granted bail by Justice Yashwant Verma after spending seven seven months in jail. Justice Verma, while granting bail said that since the chargesheet has already been filed in the case, there was no need of custody. Dr Khan’s family had applied for bail on six different occasions in the past seven months.

Lucknow: After getting bail by the Allahabad High Court in the tragic incident of dozens of children Gorakhpur Medical last year, Dr Kafeel Khan has now written to the authorities to restore him on the post of Spokesperson of Paediatrics Department in BRD Medical College.

In a letter written to the Principal of BRD Medical College, dated 19th May (a copy of which is in possession of news18), Dr Khan stated, “I have been granted bail on 28-4-18 as the charges of medical negligence and corruption against me, were found false by the Honourable High Court. Also, no evidence was found against me in the tender process of liquid oxygen. Hence, I would like to request you to restore me to the position of Spokesperson Paediatrics Department of BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur.”

Dr Kafeel Khan was granted bail by Justice Yashwant Verma after spending seven seven months in jail. Khan has been charged under Sections 120-B, 308 and 409 of the IPC by the office of DG Medical Education. The Gorakhpur Police have already dropped charges of corruption and private practice against Kafeel, who is one of the nine accused in the BRD Medical College case that left many dead allegedly due to oxygen shortage in the children’s ward.

Khan was the head of encephalitis ward, when over 60 children died in Gorakhpur's BRD Medical College. Hailed as the "hero" in the tragedy for his quick actions, was jailed after being been booked over charges of “attempt to murder”.
