Kolkata: In a new stunt to promote his film 3 Idiots, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan disguised himself as a young fan of former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly and tried to enter the cricketer's house in Kolkata.

Sporting a black shirt, moppy hair and tattoos on his body, a scruffy-looking Aamir Khan was ignored by passer-bys as he asked his way to Ganguly's residence in South Kolkata.

The 44-year-old actor managed to fool Ganguly's security men, who refused to let him enter the premises, but Aamir kept pestering them, saying, "Dada ghar pe hain? Mere ko dada se milna hai, photo khichana hai. (Is Dada at home? I want to meet him and get a photo clicked with him)."

"They are saying he is not at home. They are not letting me meet him. It is very sad. I am a fan of dada, a big fan. I want his autograph and photograph," Khan told pedestrians after he was not allowed to enter Ganguly's house.

Later in the day, Aamir dropped his disguise and finally was welcomed by the cricketer to his house. Aamir joined his family for dinner along with wife Kiran Rao, who is a huge fan of Ganguly.

The couple was welcomed by Ganguly's wife Dona, who had just returned from a dance performance, his mother and daughter Sana.

"Sourav was earlier told by the actor that a very close friend of his would be coming to his house. The cricketer was very surprised after he found Khan himself," a source said.

Ganguly showed his photographs and trophies to the actor, who said that the 37-year-old cricketer shouldn't have retired so soon.

"You stopped playing too early, should have played more. You were not ready for retirement so soon. You had made a historic comeback. All my friends were disappointed. I was so disappointed," Khan told Ganguly.

"When I went to the dressing room to inform about my retirement, all the boys, including Sachin, told me not to do so. But I had made up my mind," Ganguly replied.

Aamir said he was happy to receive such warm welcome by Ganguly despite being an 'uninvited guest'.

"He is not just a great cricketer, but also a great human being. The family accepted me with so much of love even as I came to their house uninvited. We felt so much at home. Kolkata's best is available at Dada's home," Aamir said before leaving the city.

Ganguly will read out the fourth clue among the seven, the first of which was read out by another star cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

Aamir is travelling incognito across the country for two weeks in as part of a promotional strategy for his forthcoming film 3 Idiots.

The actor has already visited Varanasi and has also spent time at Pranpur village near Madhya Pradesh's Chanderi town, where Kareena Kapoor had given a clue that Khan would be moving to Dada Ke Desh.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani of 'Munnabhai MBBS' fame, 3 Idiots also stars Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan. The film releases on December 25.
