BANGALORE: Nearly 9,000 students appeared for the Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (K-MAT) 2011 conducted by Karnataka Private Post-graduate Colleges Association (KPPCA) for entrance to MBA and MCA courses, at 14 centres across the state on Sunday.Nearly 10,000 students had applied for the K-MAT of which 85 per cent attended the test, said representatives of KPPCA.Around 2,000 students took the tests for both MBA and MCA.Spot admissions were available in Bangalore alone, where K-MAT had four centres. Nearly 700 students took the test in the Bangalore centres. The next largest spot admission for the test was registered in Mangalore, where 150 students walked in.In an attempt to bring down the number of aptitude tests, the AICTE had asked colleges to accept scores only from a specified number of exams. However, with this exam being conducted towards the end of all the exams, it is said that the students faced exam fatigue. The scores from K-MAT would allow students to apply for 148 colleges, which are affiliated to Universities in the state approved by All India Council for Technical Education. The students will also have to pay a tuition fee of Rs 50,000 to the private colleges.
