In-form Delhi Dynamos will aim for a two-point lead at the top of the points table when they host the beleaguered NorthEast United in their Indian Super League (ISL) clash on Tuesday.

Second-placed Delhi Dynamos have 12 points in their bag and a game in hand and their legendary Brazilian player-manager Roberto Carlos will leave nothing to chance against NorthEast who are struggling keep the pace.

With four wins from six matches, the Dynamos are comfortably placed at the second position and another win against Cesar Farias' outfit tonight will help the hosts grab the number one position.

Following a string of away fixtures, Delhi will finally return to their home turf Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium.

Having started their campaign on a bitter note - a 0-2 defeat to FC Goa - Dynamos went on a winning spree in the next games on the road before the run was snapped up, surprisingly, by sixth-placed Mumbai City FC.

However, they quickly pulled up their socks and found their touch back in the next game, eking out a 1-0 win over defending champions Atletico de Kolkata to justify the tag of being one of the firm favourites this season.

While their success rate has been impressive, the Dynamos would like to improve their low average when it comes to scoring goals. They have managed to score just five times so far.

The likes of former French star Florent Malouda, Brazilian Gustavo Dos Santos, Hans Mulder and Robin Singh would be itching to use the match against NorthEast United to find their touch.

Manager Roberto Carlos, however, is aware of the pitfalls if you drop guard, and has asked his team not to take anything for granted.

“Sometimes, the table does not show the actual skills of a team. NorthEast United is a good team and have some great players. So I know they will do well and it will be a tough match,” Carlos said during the pre-match media briefing.

For Delhi, Malouda will again be pivotal their fortunes as he has the ability to create chances for his team-mates. He would also like to find the net himself.

On the other hand, it is nothing short of a must-win encounter for NorthEast United if they are to enter the knockout stage.
