After topping Group A of the T20 World Cup 2024 with 7 points, Team India is gearing up for the next hurdle – Super 8, starting June 19. They will begin their campaign against rampant Afghanistan before squaring off against Bangladesh and old rivals, Australia.
How did India fare in group stages?
India vs Ireland
The men in blue kicked off their campaign with a commanding win over Ireland. After bundling out the Irish side for 96, India chased down the with 46 balls to spare and won the game by 8 wickets.
India vs Pakistan
The Indian fans had lost hope after the side was bowled out for a paltry 119 against arch-rivals. But thanks to a potent bowling attack which restricted Pakistan to 113/7 to clinch the game by 6 runs.
India vs USA
USA had thrashed Pakistan and playing against India was a tough challenge. USA set the men in blue a target of 110 which turned trickier after star pacer Saurabh Netravalkar got both Rohit and Kohli in his pocket within the Powerplay. It turned out to be Surykumar Yadav and Shivam Dube’s day as they guided India to a 7-wicket win, handing the ticket to the Super 8.
India vs Canada
India were qualified before moving to Lauderhill, Florida for their last Group Stage game against Canada. Unfortunately, the rain had the last laugh and the game was abandoned without a toss. India went ahead with 7 points while Canada ended their campaign with 3 points.
