Kolkata Knight Riders leg-break googly spinner Varun Chakravarthy has addressed a popular rumour surrounding his club teammate Rinku Singh. During an episode of the franchise’s podcast called Knights Dugout, Varun was asked if Rinku was afraid of ghosts. “We’ve done some research and apparently he’s very scared of ghosts. He is scared of ghosts. He believes in that and he finds them everywhere. Is this true? Have you ever noticed this?”, the host asked the spinner. Varun was slightly confused by the question as he was unsure if the rumour was true. “I don’t know”, he said while laughing. “Now that he’s Lord Rinku…why should he be scared of ghosts?”, Varun jokingly added.

The podcast began with the show’s host Cyrus Broacha asking Varun Chakravarthy and Suyash Sharma about some funny stories surrounding Rinku Singh. “Let’s talk about Rinku Singh for a minute. He is a very interesting personality. What do you know about Rinku Singh? Are there any funny stories?”, Broacha asked. Varun responded to the question by saying that Rinku’s humorous character adds a lot to Kolkata’s dressing room. “The guy itself is funny. He is the life of the dressing room. If someone is down, he’ll just come and crack a joke”, the Kolkata spinner said.
Apart from being one of the best finishers in the IPL, Rinku Singh is widely known for his humble persona and comical nature. His warm and jolly character is loved by both his fans and fellow cricketers. Just recently, Rinku had gone viral on the internet after asking Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli for his bat. The two cricketers had caught up ahead of their fixture at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 29. Kolkata shared a video of the light-hearted interaction between the two where Rinku can be seen asking Kohli for a second bat since he broke the previous one gifted to him against a spinner. The Bengaluru ex-skipper responded with a bit of tone saying that Rinku’s demands often get him into trouble. However, it seemed to be all fun as the Kolkata finisher ended up getting another bat from Kohli.
Rinku Singh hasn’t had too many opportunities to showcase his prowess in Kolkata Knight Riders’ lower batting order this season. The finisher has just managed 168 runs from 12 matches this season, at a strike rate of 148.67. He will now have his eyes set on the ultimate prize as Kolkata compete in the Qualifier 1 tomorrow, May 22. He will, next, also represent India at the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in the United States and the West Indies.
