New Delhi: The markets slipped and traded in on Wednesday on the back of selling pressure in the IT, FMCG, pharma and banking stocks.
Sensex ended down 64.89 points at 14,188.49, and the Nifty closed down 10.75 points at 4,096.2. BSE IT ended down 95.25 points at 5438.58. Satyam, Infosys, Hexaware Tech, Moser Baer and I-Flex Solution declined.
BSE Healthcare closed down 9.78 points at 3788.4. Biocon, Ranbaxy Labs, Sterling Bio, Aventis Pharma and Divis Labs ended in red. BSE FMCG was down 13.64 points at 1867.19. P & G, HLL, Colgate and Nestle were top losers.
BSE Bankex ended down 9.46 points at 7176. Andhra Bank, Union Bank, Federal Bank, Bank of India and HDFC Bank were worst hit. BSE Auto was up 24 points at 5562.20. Hero Honda, Sundaram and Exide Industries were the top gainers.
BSE metal index closed up 85.28 points at 8950.28. Jindal Steel, Tata Steel and Hindalco were among major gainers.

BSE Cash Turnover was Rs 4086.7crore, NSE Cash Turnover was Rs 8432.83 crore, NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 48152.93 crore and total turnover was Rs 60672.46 crore.
