New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Budget will convert hopes and aspirations of the people into trust and will give a new ray of hope for the poor and downtrodden. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tabled the Modi government's first Budget in Parliament.
Modi said, "The Budget will give an impetus to people's participation and people's power. It is an effort to make India skilled and digital."
Hailing both the Railway Budget and General Budget, he said, "Railway Budget and Union Budget show we are moving in the right direction. Despite testing times, the government is committed to extend every possible help to the poor, the neo-middle class and the middle class."
Laying stress on women empowerment and girl's education, Modi said, "Budget will give a ray of hope to the housewife who is being burdened by rising prices and will place utmost importance to women empowerment and girl's education."
