This Was WWE's Big Plan for CM Punk Before He was Sidelined Due to Tricep Injury
CM Punk confirmed his injury on an episode of Monday night RAW and is like to not take part in WrestleMania 40 and Elimination Chamber.

WWE superstar CM Punk has been out of action having suffered a torn tricep during the Royal Rumble Match last month. The injury has turned out to be quite disastrous as it is understood to have shattered Punk’s chances of taking part in WrestleMania 40 and Elimination Chamber. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, journalist Dave Meltzer talked about Punk’s plans for the Elimination Chamber prior to his injury. Meltzer said, “I mean, the idea for Punk is that Punk was going to win the Elimination Chamber. And that’s how that was going to work.”

Meltzer went on to claim that Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre might face each other in the Elimination Chamber match. “It feels like to me watching the show that they’re going to have a men’s Elimination Chamber with Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre as two of the guys and I’m sure there’ll be some others. Because Sami Zayn is all of a sudden talking about the world title and Drew McIntyre is all over everything, on every show. He’s in there with the top guys. So he can’t be sitting there doing nothing at WrestleMania either. So I guess we have to watch it all play out,” Meltzer said on the latest episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio.

CM Punk confirmed his injury on an episode of Monday night RAW. Punk stated that he “felt unlucky” while announcing that he had torn his right triceps. “WrestleMania 40, I guess it’s not in the cards ladies and gentlemen. But I’m a Chicago Cubs fan, and this isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last time I say this: There’s always next year,” Punk told the crowd present at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

CM Punk ended behind Cody Rhodes as runner up in the 30-man match at the Royal Rumble. Punk had entered the Royal Rumble in the 27th position but he was ultimately eliminated by the eventual champion Rhodes. Following the completion of this year’s Royal Rumble, it was revealed that Punk had endured a torn tricep injury. It has now been learnt that he will most likely stay away from competitive action for 4-6 months following surgery.
