“Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, a man has been charged with murder in Reading. Shazeb Khalid, aged 24, of no fixed abode was charged with one count of murder today (20/2),” Thames Valley Police said in a statement.

Khalid was later arrested on suspicion of murder on February 19. Police said the seven men arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on bail. Khalid is scheduled to appear at Reading Magistrates Court on February 21.

Earlier, Thames Valley Police had stressed the importance of eyewitness accounts and urged individuals with CCTV or dash-cam footage to assist in the probe. “We have launched a murder investigation following this incident. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who has died at this tragic time,” a senior investigating officer earlier said.
