New Delhi: Pakistan will once again raise the Kashmir issue at the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's speech will focus on Kashmir and also oppose India's bid for permanent seat at United Nations Security Council, said sources.
According to the sources, Nawaz's speech will be about 15 minutes long and more than a third of his speech will be about Kashmir. Sharif's speech has been re-written seven times, added sources.
Sharif's speech comes just a day after CNN-IBN revealed Pakistani brutality in the areas of Kashmir occupied illegally by it. According to videos accessed by CNN-IBN residents of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir are seen shouting anti-Pakistan slogans and demanding that they should join India.
Pakistani forces are seen using excessive force to quell peaceful protests and brutally breaking up marches being taken out by Kashmiris in the Pakistani occupied areas. Protesters are seen shouting slogans that PoK was never a part of Pakistan and it has been illegally occupied.
The Kashmir issue has been dictating Indo-Pakistan relations for decades. Recently, Islamabad derailed NSA-level talks by including Kashmiri separatists in the dialogue process as India protested their inclusion.
Pakistan has, however, maintained no peace process can be initiated without Kashmir on the talking table.
