With grocery deliveries becoming a household norm, a new service has emerged just in time for Eid Al-Adha 2024, celebrated today on June 17 across India. However, there’s a catch: this service is currently unavailable in India. A UAE app has launched a unique service for delivering Qurbani meat online, sparking envy among Indians.
This buzz started when a screenshot revealed that Careem has introduced the Udhiya (Qurbani) service in the UAE for this year’s Eid-al-Adha. Customers can now pre-order their preferred cut of meat and choose a delivery date, making the festival preparation hassle-free. The internet was abuzz with excitement as the app allows users to pre-order or donate meat, offering goat and sheep for Udhiya with no delivery fee and a minimum order of AED 1200 (approximately ₹27,000). The orders are delivered within 45-55 minutes.

The post quickly went viral, prompting humorous and admiring comments. One user quipped, “Bangalore you are a sheep* behind,” while another said, “Sheep’s delivery in UAE, the country with the best service on Earth.” A third user added, “Well, I thought it was an online joke, but Careem actually added sheep delivery in UAE.”

But there’s more. Both Careem and Noon let buyers select the cut and the number of pieces, and choose which day of Eid they want the sacrifice performed. The meat is then delivered on the same day, ensuring freshness and convenience.

For those unfamiliar, Eid Al-Adha, or the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah. Traditionally, the meat from the sacrificed animal is shared among family, friends, and the needy. While the act of giving remains, the way we acquire the sacrificial animal has evolved significantly.
