Trains might be one of the most widely used public modes of transportation in India, but complaints about poor services from passengers onboard are also quite common. At any given time, there are multiple complaints regarding bad-quality food, unhygienic toilets, bad staff service and overcrowded trains. Such grievances often bring Indian Railways to the headlines for all the wrong reasons. One such incident has now gone viral, where a passenger complained about struggling to access drinking water while travelling on a train. Posting a video of his experience, the man shared how the train staff member refused to help him and a few other co-passengers when they asked for bottled water.
The X user named Abhinav Singh shared a video of his train journey on Sunday, April 28. Tagging the official handle of the IRCTC, he wrote, “Struggle for water in Indian railway is for real. I was not alone. 5 more people wanted water. I was about to break the door fir ek ne bottle laake diya!! Pathetic.”

The post includes a video showing the man banging hard on the train door and asking the staff member to provide them with a water bottle, while the other person gestures to turn down his appeals. It was apparently after a heated exchange of words that the passengers finally received water.
In response to the X post, Indian Railways took to the comment section and apologised for the inconvenience. It also asked Abhinav to share his PNR number and contact details for further assistance. In the meantime, many social media users reacted to his post, sharing similar instances.
A user wrote, “What the hell of a service is this @RailwaySeva Totally service downgraded,” while another person commented, “Really bad behaviour and I also lost my ₹10 when the guy told me that he doesn’t have any change but disappeared. Really pathetic.” “I had faced the same problem a few weeks back. After 11 pm there is no water available,” an individual mentioned.
