China’s Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi put up a spectacular show to triumph in the women’s synchronised 10-metre platform event at the Paris Olympics on July 31. The young divers established a lead of 15 points after the first two rounds and continued their dominance for the rest of the event. Though each of their dives was equally impressive, one particular performance has gained massive traction on social media. Quan and Chen made it look so flawless that at one point, it seemed from the side view that just one diver was jumping from the platform.
A fan shared a video featuring the dive on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “China’s Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan won gold in the women’s synchronized 10m platform diving event with a performance that was so synchronized and flawless, they appeared as one diver while jumping from a side view.”

Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi have been playing together since 2022. They secured three world championship titles in women’s synchronized platform before featuring at the mega event in Paris. Quan and Chen recorded 359.10 points to claim the first-ever Olympic gold as a pair.
Despite the victory, neither Quan Hongchan nor Chen Yuxi was happy with their performance in the French capital. While Quan called their dives “mediocre”, Chen said, “My performance was a bit unstable and I didn’t handle some of the details in the dives well.”
Quan scripted history in her Olympic debut in Tokyo three years back. She won the individual 10m platform event as a 14-year-old to bag the gold medal. Chen finished behind Quan to secure the silver. Chen also won gold in the women’s team event with her then-partner Zhang Jiaqi.
