No India, but Pakistan vs New York on June 9? Wait, what?! As all cricket fans eagerly anticipate the high-stakes India vs. Pakistan clash in the ongoing T20 World Cup, this news is a shocker. But don’t worry, it’s not true—just a hilarious mistake by a cricket commentator recently.
Yes, you read that right. A video going viral on the internet captures a Star Sports commentator making a series of amusing blunders. While displaying India’s schedule in the WC, the commentator managed to mix up the countries and match locations. The image showed the countries India would play against, with the venue listed as New York. But the commentator mixed things up, resulting in absurd pairings like Ireland vs. New York on June 5, which was supposed to be India vs. Ireland in New York, and, most amusingly, Pakistan vs. New York on June 9, which is actually the much-awaited India vs. Pakistan match!

The mix-up reportedly happened during the Canada vs. USA match held on June 2, Sunday.
Naturally, viewers couldn’t help but laugh at the goof-up. One ‘X’ user shared the clip with the caption, “Level of commentary on Star Sports, what are they even high on?”

Comments kept pouring in, with one user quipping, “When jet lag hits you hard,” and another pointing out, “Blud even hesitated for a second before saying Pakistan vs newyork and still kept going on,” while a third joked, “USA vs New York, Civil war started again or what?”
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time cricket commentary has cracked up the internet. Back in March, a match between Independents CC and Donaustadt in the European Cricket 2024’s Group F Qualifier 2 at Spain’s Cartama Oval had everyone in stitches.
It happened when Donaustadt set a challenging target of 147/4 in 10 overs, and the real drama unfolded during Independents’ chase in the very first over. A wide delivery slipped past the wicketkeeper’s legs, and a determined fielder chased it down, leaping across advertisement boards to keep the ball in play. Yet, despite his heroic efforts, a collision with the wicketkeeper caused the ball to roll over the boundary line.

The comic relief came with the commentator playfully humming a meme-like tune, making fun of the disheartened fielder as he slumped in disappointment, while the Independents’ dugout erupted in uncontrollable laughter. Oh, the irony!
