OYO CEO Ritesh Agarwal’s Hilarious Reply To ‘Mute Manjrekar’ App Idea Is Trending
Calling out the judges of Shark Tank India, Vishal Dayama proposed a "mute button" for Sanjay Manjrekar.

Sanjay Manjrekar is one of those former cricketers who has been covering the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as part of its official commentary panel. Manjrekar, who was a vital cog in the Indian top order for nearly nine years, replaced his willow with the mic a few years after taking retirement from professional cricket in 1996. He has served the commentary duty for various marquee events over the years and has been a constant in the IPL as well.

Following the commencement of the 2024 season, Sanjay Manjrekar’s name started making waves across social media after a content creator took a dig at his commentary style, which has often sparked controversy among fans. Vishal Dayama, a popular influencer, dropped a witty post on X (Formerly Twitter) where he proposed a tool that would be able to detect and mute the voice of Manjrekar.

Calling out the judges of Shark Tank India, Dayama wrote on the microblogging platform, “Hello sharks, my idea is a mute button but only for Manjrekar. This app detects that sound and prevents it from reaching your ears.”

The post became an instant hit, but the twist came when OYO chief executive Ritesh Agarwal also responded to it. Agarwal is the youngest judge to feature in the Shark Tank India. Playing along with Vishal Dayama’s hilarious suggestion, the OYO CEO wrote on X, “Apko offer milega aaur deal pakki. Yeh bahut badi opportunity hai (You will get an offer and the deal is final. This is a very big opportunity).”

The comment didn’t take much time to become viral, with many people showing a thumbs-up to the idea and joking about it. Ritesh Agarwal, however, later clarified that his remarks were just for fun and he had no intention of demeaning Sanjay Manjrekar. “I actually do like Sanjay’s commentary and this is in good zest, like my friend said, bura na mano Holi hai.”

During the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup, Sanjay Manjrekar found himself in a tricky situation due to comments about Ravindra Jadeja. While analysing his performance in the 50-over format, Manjrekar said, “I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players, which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket.”

His statement caught the attention of Jadeja, who hit back saying, “Still, I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I’m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea.” After the spin-bowling all-rounder played a crucial 77-run knock in the final, Manjrekar admitted his mistake.
