The picture captured the couple in the backseat of a blue Range Rover, with Prince William, 41, glancing down and Princess Kate, 42, looking out the window.

Once again, the photo was too blurry to convince anyone it was genuine, prompting the internet to scrutinize it and deepen conspiracy theories, suggesting that, like many other pictures, this one was also edited and manipulated. How, you ask?

“They used a Christmas day photo. They erased her earring, her hat brim can clearly be seen, as can the top be seen obscuring the rectangle in the interior of the car… then they added some noise to make it harder to discern the edits… they are really bad at this!!! explained one ‘X’ user analyzing the viral picture. Another added, “Today’s photo is from Christmas. Kate didn’t get all dressed today and wear a hat just to ride in the car then wait in it while he attended the event.”

A third observer proposed another theory, noting, “Ok I went down the fashion rabbit hole. This is very similar to Kate’s 2016 Somme hair style and hat. Play with the coloring and you can clearly see what looks like a bow outline. Looks like they blurred out her big round earring as well.”
