According to a report by the Daily Star, the Island Ilha da Queimada Grande is also known as the Snake Island. On this Island, you can find thousands of Viper snakes which is known as one of the most venomous snakes to exist. As per records, there are around 2000 – 4000 present Viper snakes on this island.
This island is located around 90 miles off the coast of São Paulo, Brazil. The local government has restricted people from visiting that place as it can be life-threatening for them. The most dangerous species of viper, the Golden Lancehead is found on this island. This species is found exclusively on this island of Brazil. The venom of these snakes is so poisonous that it can melt human flesh and kill a healthy person just within an hour.
The Island Ilha da Queimada Grande is also known as the “Island of the Great Fire” among the locals. This name was given because travellers used to light fires to drive away the dangerous snakes. There used to be a lighthouse many years back and people operating that used to stay on this island. Presently, no human stays on this island. However, some people illegally visit the island to catch snakes which are worth millions in the back market.
