Incidents of driving on beaches, damaging the peace and scenic beauty, have become a common occurrence. There have been multiple reports of tourists violating local laws and driving their cars on beaches, which are home to fragile ecosystems, and driving disrupts this ecosystem. The first such incident was reported from Ladakh; later, another incident from Goa came to light, and the tourists were later arrested. Now, a similar incident is doing the rounds on the internet that shows an SUV being driven recklessly along the pristine shores of Goa’s protected Olive Ridley turtle beach at Morjim, Goa.

The ecologically sensitive beach is a breeding ground for the turtles that make their nests on the beach at Morjim. As per the said video, the car, belonging to a local from Taleigao, was being driven by a Delhi native who is currently residing in Goa.

The now-viral clip led to widespread condemnation, as the speed of the car poses a threat in the sensitive nesting area, prompting significant worry regarding its effect on the Olive Ridley turtles there.
