A woman was stunned to discover a long-lost secret room beneath her own home. The homeowner and her partner made the alarming discovery after removing the carpet in the basement during renovations. The entrance to the room was found through a metal door after the couple had previously discovered another room behind a wall mirror upstairs, which is now used as a playroom for their children. Other people on her TikTok feed reacted to the find, saying they were concerned for the couple’s safety. She shared a video clip on her feed showing her husband pushing aside part of the wall. A metal door was discovered leading to an entirely new room. The couple claim the room was hidden by a “sliding door in the drywall.” The room was long and narrow and featured a drain and a working light switch, as well as a collection of mats on the floor. This showed that the wall had previously been used for another purpose, making it even more sinister.
After posting the TikTok clip, she wrote: “What the f***, we’ve never seen anything like this in our house and we’ve lived here for four years.” There was widespread bewilderment on social media that the hidden room hadn’t been discovered when the couple was still living in the house. Aurora and her husband suggested what the room could be used for, including a panic room, a bomb shelter and even a gun safe.
But the couple’s TikTok followers had even more sinister ideas, pointing out that a panic room wouldn’t have a handle on the outside. One user responded: “Ma’am this screams murder room. The door only opens from the outside, there’s a floor drain and “rust” on the floor. I think you should get the police to come and look at this.”
Another added: “It actually looks like a room a serial killer took his victims to chop them up. Check out the random drain in the floor.” She asked her followers: “Should we bring in a cadaver dog? No, they probably had a gun safe in here.”
A TikToker later confirmed that police had been called to investigate the room, but no evidence of a crime was found. She said: “They didn’t see any signs of a crime, they’re not investigating anything, they didn’t see anything that looked like DNA evidence that would need to be collected, but they were really impressed with how the room was hidden and that it was really cool.”
