Bihar Hospital Uses Cardboard To Plaster Fractured Leg Of A Man
The injured man said that no doctor visited him after he was shifted to Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur.

A shocking video from a hospital in Bihar has gone viral on social media. The video shows a man lying on the hospital bed while his broken leg is supported with cardboard and worn-out bandages. The injured man, identified as Nitish Kumar, reportedly got injured after he fell from his bike. Then he was taken to the primary health centre in Minapur in Muzaffarpur district where his fractured leg was plastered using bandages and a cardboard carton.

He was then shifted to the Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur for further treatment.

At the Shree Krishna Medical College and College, no doctor visited Nitish Kumar. As per NDTV, instead of properly plastering his leg, Nitish Kumar was left unattended for five days. The above-mentioned video was shared online by X user Sanjeev Thakur. He captioned the video, “In Muzaffarpur, Bihar, instead of plastering and applying a plate on the broken leg of a patient injured in a road accident, it has been tied with a carton. This is the case of SKMCH in Muzaffarpur. Is this the preparation and infrastructure of the health department?”

Sanjeev Thakur tagged Raj Bhushan Choudhary, the newly elected MP from Muzaffarpur Lok Sabha constituency, and Mangal Pandey, the Minister of Health of Bihar in the post. He also tagged the official X accounts of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Muzaffarpur District Magistrate’s Office.

After this matter came to light, the hospital’s superintendent Dr Vibha Kumari said that the patient would be treated promptly and doctors had been instructed to attend to him at the earliest. She added that the matter is under investigation to find out why there were no doctors to check on him. NDTV reported that even though Dr Vibha Kumari assured proper treatment, she denied any negligence by the hospital. She put the blame on the primary health centre for plastering the fractured leg with cardboard.

This is not the only incident that has put question marks on Bihar’s healthcare infrastructure. In March 2021, a video went viral that showed a district hospital in Katihar getting waterlogged after rains. People were forced to use two-wheelers within the hospital building.

Many patient beds were also surrounded by water. The video showed how the hospital building had a poor drainage system. Similar reports of flooding came from Bihar’s oldest hospital, Darbhanga Medical College & Hospital.
